Do we need a Passport to travel to Montserrat?
YES - Proper ID is required of everyone wishing to enter Montserrat. All US Citizens need a valid Passport to re-enter the US, so our word of advice: Passport...."don't leave home without it"!

Is Montserrat safe?
Absolutely...It's crime free atmosphere and near perfect weather help add to your total relaxation. Even though crime is nil, we do recommend that you lock the villa when you are away or at night. We never bother to lock the car, but we don't leave valuables in open sight either. These two common sense rules should be more than enough. In regards to the volcano, again YES, StarBlest Villa is located well within the safe zone, and should cause no concern for your safety.

Is the water safe to drink?
Absolutely...Fresh water is plentiful, pure and delicious. It's piped from mountain springs to all homes on Montserrat, so the water at the villa will probably taste better as well as being safer and more pure, than it is at home! There is no need for bottled water.

Is the pool private?
To answer the question as delicately as possible, yes the pool and pool deck are private. There is a foot or two of the pool deck at the one end that may be visible from the road (depending on the season and the gardener). However, please keep in mind there are service people that will show up at the villa and may not be used to giving much of a warning! Most of them will show up in the morning (pool man, gardener, and maid), but if you don’t want to shock/be shocked, check with our on island representatives regarding their schedules.

How close is the nearest beach?
The closest beaches are Lime Kiln Beach (4-5 min drive) and Woodlands Beach (7-8 min drive). Both are generally calm (bring your snorkeling gear or rent from the local dive shop), both have an outdoor shower to rinse off before you leave, and most importantly....they are usually empty.

How do we get a drivers license?
After your arrival in Montserrat, have our driver stop at the Police station on the way to the villa. It can be taken care of there. Proof of a currently valid license from home is all that is required. The cost is approx. US $20.00 and the correct amount is always appreciated (the officer does not always have change).

Can car rentals be arranged in advance?
Yes, and we do suggest the use of a rental car during your stay. They are inexpensive (25-35/day) and we can make the arrangements (no service charge) for your rental automobile to be at the villa when you arrive. Payment for the auto rental is your responsibility. If you plan on "exploring", we do suggest a Rav4/SUV type of auto as a rental. The difference in price is only a few dollars a day.

How about groceries....can they be arranged in advance?
Absolutely.....There is no service fee involved to have your first night's dinner and the following mornings groceries stocked at the villa prior to your arrival.

Is fishing or SCUBA diving available?
Yes, and it is great! Deep sea fishing and/or a boat tour around the island as well as all your Diving and Snorkeling needs can be arranged with our good friends at The Green Monkey Dive Shop. You can also take lessons, and you can even become PADI certified after completing a dive course. If you are you already certified or just want to snorkel, equipment is available for rental. (see our links page).
